The last activity day was an education session given by the Melbourne Fire Brigade. The session was both informative and fun, there’s no doubt the children will retain the life saving fire safety tips they were taught. Thanks to Paula and Chris for organising the day.
This week we have Fr. Michael Corriveau coming to talk to the group about Advent, which will be followed by Christmas Carol practice in preparation for our upcoming visit to the Nursing Home (full details are available on the Term 4 Newsletter, or contact Paula.)

Our “dress-up as a saint” activity was indeed memorable. All our mums are to be congratulated for the ingenuity and joy they brought to the day.
On Friday November 16th the Melbourne Fire Brigade will visit our homeschool group for an education session. They will also bring along the fire-truck from the Deer Park station & have very generously supplied materials, books, colouring pages etc., which will be handed out on the day.
This session will be geared to a very wide age-range so there will be something of interest to all ages. However one very important thing to note – The MFB have instructed us that ALL preschool-aged children need to be closely supervised by a parent throughout this visit (you will need to sit with your child/ren). It is not the MFBʼs usual policy to present education sessions to preschool-aged children, as this knowledge can sometimes be beyond their comprehension & without parental guidance can lead to an unhealthy curiosity about fire & fire-safety. They are making an exception for our homeschool group & we have assured them that all parents will co-operate with their request.
We hope you all enjoy the day. I can’t wait!
